Nevada is the 7th most extensive, the 34th most populous, but the 9th least densely populated of the 50 United States. Nearly three-quarters of Nevada’s people live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area where three of the state’s four largest incorporated cities are located. Nevada’s capital is Carson City. The main cities are Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, Sparks, Pahrump and Carson City.

Nevada (especially Reno and Las Vegas) is one of the most unique states relating to the diversity of convenience retail and distributor formats. The primary formats are c-stores, truck stops, casinos, convention centers, colleges and universities and ski resorts (all with c-stores in common).
The dominant state based chains include Terrible’s, Rebel Oil, Shortline Express, Pit Stop, Speedee Mart, Green Valley Grocery and Fabulous Freddies. The primary distributors include Core-Mark, McLane and Trepco with local distributors such as Food Pro Distributing, Piloch Distribution and Norman Distribution also available for discussions.
The Western Petroleum Marketers Association
WPMA is made up of eight separate state associations, including Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Originally, marketers from the states of Utah, Idaho, and Nevada formed the association with marketers from Arizona, Montana and Eastern Washington, known as the Inland Empire, joining soon after.
